About This Trail

Located in the Pine River/Conservation Park in Alma, MI

The Alma Mountain Bike Trail, lovingly known as Sally's Trail, is a 4-mile loop nestled in the Pine River/Conservation Park in Alma. This trail holds a special place in the community, as it was entirely built and is maintained by local legend, Sally Vernon.

To access the trail, head to the park entrance situated between the boat launch parking area and the "main entrance" for the cemetery. A new parking area is conveniently located in front of the recently renovated restroom facility, which is operational from May to October.

The trailhead is located just south of the restrooms, with signs that guide riders in the appropriate direction, depending on the day of the week. The loop itself consists of 6 sections, each clearly marked with a signpost.

This trail is perfect for riders looking to improve their technique, thanks to its flowy, curvy nature. It features two “A-frame” and two dip options, adding a touch of challenge for those who enjoy testing their skills. It’s also great for single-speed riders, with only a few short, steep inclines to tackle.

The Alma trail can be enjoyed in all four seasons. Depending on snow depth, it can be groomed for fat bikes and snowshoes, though it’s too tight for cross-country skis.

Whether you’re looking for a quick 4-mile loop or a few laps to push your limits, Sally’s Trail offers a fun and rewarding ride that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
